Court of Protection

As people are living much longer than previous generations, and health care is becoming better all the time, a large number of people, as they get older, are becoming more frail both physically and mentally.

Quite often a person is reluctant to ask a close family member to deal with and manage one’s financial affairs. Financial matters within a family can be very difficult particularly when dealing with confidentiality and competing interests between family members. In addition, such formal appointments can be quite onerous for the lay person not experienced in such matters.

This is when a Power of Attorney may be appropriate. Michael is experienced in dealing with such cases. A Power of Attorney allows Michael to deal with the finances of a client in a confidential way taking into account the wishes of the client.

When a person has not entered into a Power of Attorney and their condition is such that they no longer have the mental capacity to make legal decisions, the Court of Protection will appoint a suitable professional to act for the person. Michael is confidential, sympathetic, caring and patient. All of these qualities are important in such cases.
